SPICE Girls are rumoured to be reuniting for the last time at the launch of their new musical Viva Forever. The Daily Star reports that Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell would be getting back together to perform on December 11.
According to the tabloid, the former bandmates are in ‘secret talks’ to play at the launch night of the West End musical. Mel B was previously reported as keen for a Spice Girls reunion to coincide with the start of Viva Forever. The mum-of-three told The Mirror: ‘We’re always talking about getting together. We always have cups of tea and dinners together. We’re all friends at the end of the day.’
The band was one of the highlights of Olympics closing ceremony where they played a medley of Wannabe and Spice Up You Life. ‘It was lovely. Those four girls mean everything to me. We had such an amazing time,’ she added. ‘We had a great time... we were just hanging out, playing music and gossiping with each other. It was a lovely, proper girlie time.’
Mel C recently revealed that the Spice Girls ‘laughed and cried’ when they were given their first glimpse of Viva Forever. The musical, penned by comedian Jennifer Saunders and produced by Mamma Mia’s Judy Craymer, will open at the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre.
She told Digital Spy: ‘They’re casting the final roles at the moment. It’s completely amazing! ‘We were all really nervous when Jennifer read through the first draft and then we saw a recording of the workshops for act one and act two. I was so nervous because you think, “Please, please be good!” ‘Thankfully we laughed and we cried - it was better than we ever could have hoped for. Obviously there’s interest because it’s the Spice Girls, but there is genuinely a brilliant story to back it up.’
